EDiHTA at HTAi 2025: Abstract presentations from Radboud UMC and Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore

As EDiHTA gears up for the 2025 Health Technology Assessment international (HTAi) Annual Meeting in Buenos Aires, we are proud to highlight two important contributions to the conference programme, each tackling key aspects of digital health technology (DHT) evaluation.

Radboud University Medical Center (Wija Oortwijn, Annapoorna Prakash) will present pioneering work on the definition and classification of DHTs. This research proposes a unified definition and taxonomy aimed at improving the consistency and clarity of DHT assessments. By identifying essential components for defining digital health technologies, the study supports the development of standardised Health Technology Assessment (HTA) frameworks, enabling more effective integration of DHTs into healthcare systems.

Università Cattolica del Sacro Cuore (Americo Cicchetti, Dario Sacchini, Emmanouil Tsiasiotis, Rossella di Bidino) will showcase findings on the needs and requirements of health decision-makers for assessing DHTs. As part of EDiHTA’s work toward a harmonised European HTA framework, this research draws from stakeholder consultations—including policymakers, HTA agencies, developers, clinicians, and patients—to shape a process that reflects real-world expectations and supports sound healthcare decision-making.

These contributions reflect EDiHTA’s mission to build a more consistent, transparent and patient-centred framework for evaluating digital innovations in healthcare.

We look forward to engaging with the global HTA community in Buenos Aires!
